About Harvard Graduate School of Education Asian Pacific Education Students International Association

Harvard Graduate School of Education Asian Pacific Education Students International Association(Harvard GSE APESIA) was established in 2021 and is the official student organization of Harvard University. The association aims to promote and advance understanding of Asia-Pacific education culture, educational technology, and educational innovation. Empowering students, scholars, innovators, and practitioners, the association strives to create a sustainable ecosystem for the next generation of educational reform in Asia through discussions and in-depth understanding of the challenges facing the Asia-Pacific region. 

Our Goal

Our goal is to promote a greater understanding of Asian Pacific education issues and culture, as well as provide social and professional opportunities for oversea students to engage with the APE community at large. APESIA also works closely with other Harvard affinity groups to address social and systemic issues affecting all people of color.

Our Mission

The Harvard Graduate School of Education Asian Pacific Education Students International Association (“APESIA”) mission is to advocate for the Asian Pacific the education (APE) community at Harvard University and beyond provides academic resources and support for education school students and creates a social and professional network to connect students and alumni worldwide.

Our Annual Events

The Harvard GSE Asian Pacific Education Students International Association regularly organizes events such as forums, seminars, and international exchange meetings each year. These events provide an equitable platform for international scholars and experts to exchange ideas and learn from each other, fostering a better understanding of the educational landscape and transformations in the Asia-Pacific region. Meanwhile, we have established strong connections with globally renowned academic institutions, offering scholars and experts access to global insights and resources.

 

Over the past two years, we have invited distinguished international educators to discuss the development of international education in Asia.

 

These guests have included Tony Sachi, former board member of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations and Ford Foundation representative in China; Hatch Thomas, former director of the U.S. Center for Education Reform, School, and Teaching Reconstruction; Kunal Johar, former technical scientist at the U.S. Department of Defense; Prashant Loyalka, senior researcher at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies; and the lead researcher of Indonesia’s “Potential” program, among others.
